The weekly high street and vintage round-up

In a new weekly column House & Garden stylist Charlie Porter, the founder of online vintage emporium Tat London, shares her weekly guide to the best new high street and vintage pieces

Charlie Porter is a self confessed magpie. As one of House & Garden's decoration stylists she helps compile the magazine's monthly shopping pages, and in her spare time applies her gimlet eye to sourcing antiques for her online store Tat London. Her Instagram feed is a glorious mish-mash of rooms by the world's best designers, coupled with her latest fantastically affordable finds. In the spirit of which we've asked her to compile a weekly selection of affordable but beautiful items - some high street, some vintage - supplying you with a new address book of places to find treasure for your home, no matter your budget.

    Baxter Rug, £120, Habitat.

Kicking us off this week is Habitat, with this multi-coloured plaid patterned rug. Although it is brimming with colour, the splendid design means it enhances instead of overwhelms.

  • Lit En Bateau French Bed, £245, from Kernow Furniture.

This antique French bed could work so well as a day bed. Perfect for when guests come to stay, or for napping on a Sunday.

  • Vintage Brass Table Lamp Brass Tartan Library Lamp, £95, from eBay.

This lamp caught my attention on eBay. It may well be the fact that I always have a place in my heart for a little bit of tartan, or it might be its fine brass base. Either way, it does it for me.

  • Thonet No 16 Mid-Century bench, £465, from eBay.

One of these got snatched from under my nose about a year ago. Here I am letting someone else do it to me again.

  • Six Younger teak dining chairs, £325, from Kernow Furniture.

I think this set of dining chairs are seriously smart in their 1960s design. At some point, you could probably reupholster them, but I don't think the seat pads are half bad - all for £54 per chair.

  • Effie, from £899, from Swoon.

Always good to have a large item on the list, so here it is! Swoon has brought us this fantastically curvy sofa, the 'Effie'; I am a fan of curves it's right up my street.

  • Head Jog In Brass wall light with shade, £85, from Loaf.

Loaf is known for its great beds and sofas, but perhaps what is overlooked is its delightful lighting. It's well priced, well designed and a bit of fun. I particularly like this wall light, perfect for a bit of nighttime reading, and at £85 for the shade and light, it's a bargain.

  • Bee Log, £24, from Toast.

We all love our bees and Toast has made it easy to show your care with this beautiful Bee Hotel. It's really a log but I think it will be a hit with our helpful stripey friends.

  • Lemon Vases, £6, from ReFound Objects.

ReFound Objects always has such a terrific range of items, these lemon vases are humdingers, perfect for summer dining.

  • Hand Painted Plates, £8, from Manor House 1690.

Manor House has many charming products, but these turned my head. Handpainted, folky plates and dishes which start from £8. What a delight.
